Statement & Purpose

The PLN is a facilitating mechanism through which the synods, institutions, and organizations related to the ELCA in Pennsylvania can maintain relation-ships, cooperate and collaborate in ways that can fulfill already existing commitments to the ELCA, to each other and to the public.

The PLN is not a new organization to join but a network in which all can participate, fully or selectively, to sustain values and fulfill goals for their mutual benefit in ministry, education and service in church and society.

Serving Others____________________________________________________

Pennsylvania Lutheran organizations provide services rooted in this common mission to strengthen and support individuals with a wide range of services.  Our ministries include:

Social Ministry Organizations:  bringing health and hope to children, families and older adults through long-term residential care; providing diverse community-based services to children and families; giving medical care.

Outdoor Ministries:  providing opportunities for Christian fellowship and growth to thousands of people each year, as they learn and relax in the beauty of God’s creation.

Higher Education and Campus Ministry:  developing the potential of  students who seek to find and fulfill their vocations in the church and the secular world, in the context of Lutheran tradition and theology.

Lutheran Advocacy Ministry in Pennsylvania (LAMPa): identifying public policy issues in Pennsylvania that impact the most needy in the Commonwealth and rallying Lutheran congregations and institutions to common action.

Working Together______________________________________________

Utilizing this network, hundreds of thousands of Lutherans are working to speak with a common voice to issues that shape Pennsylvania.  By building collaborations, the network will increase the effectiveness of Lutherans in society.  Strong and untied Lutheran organizations will help build a stronger and more compassionate Pennsylvania.
